- The above table gives the approximate number of
acres drained for known sizes of tubing and the known
rates of fall. These are only average values based on
a design value of 3/8 inch water removed in a 24 hour
period which is usually used. This cannot be used for
all conditions. The use of surface inlets, surface drainage
and soil types must also be considered when determining
the size of mains and laterals. N vales used are; .015
4" thru 8";.017 for 10" and 12"
and .02 for 15", 18", and 24"
